Welcome to my blog!
Here you can follow the progress of my “Healing Broken Wings” project. You can find out more about it here.
With the involvement of my community, the three aims of my project are:
- To inspire and empower young Australians – I believe it is vital that young people don’t become disillusioned with the world, and with what we, as young people, can achieve. There is much that we can do to change the world for better simply by having the knowledge, passion, and opportunity to do so.
I aim to equip my peers with a sound understanding of the issue of child soldiers, ignite their passion for change, and give them an opportunity to make a difference. - To promote awareness about the issue of child soldiers – I believe that a great number of Australians are largely unaware of child soldiers and the accompanying complexities of this issue. I feel that if more people were informed about this situation, more would be done to prevent it.
- To raise funds for a rehabilitation centre for former child soldiers – The Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers, based in the UK, has identified a rehabilitation program run by the Jesuit Refugee Service in Uvira, South Kivu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The money that is raised will be used in the program to continue the vital process of reintegration of former child soldiers back into their communities.
