Making connections

Having joined twitter as part of my crash course introduction to social media, I began following a friend of Gavin’s, Wade Millican.

Browsing Wade’s about page, I came across an intriguing offer – free lunch, no strings attached, with an open, friendly, intelligent, Buddhist Monk.

How could I pass such an offer without at least a little investigation? So without further ado, I sent Wade a tweet.

Following on from there, we have been in contact over the past couple of weeks, and it is agreed – free lunch is mine for the taking. If all runs according to plan, Wade will be buying me the first lunch generated from his online offer. Thanks to Gavin for the introduction!

However, it looks like Wade will be moving to San Fransisco within the next month, and I am going to Europe for 3 weeks, leaving in 17 days. It now seems likely that this unique opportunity may be lost, at least for now. Perhaps Wade will have to start his free lunch campaign again in San Fransisco – I look forward to a post reading “I just bought my first lunch.”

If Wade ever returns from San Fransisco, I’ll be sure to hold him accountable to his promise of a free lunch.

Interesting story, is it not? I’ll keep you posted!
